How can I come to the Nicholas Center?

The Nicholas Center trains leaders in the practices of Living Compass and Fierce, Inc. as well as meetings and trainings for CCD, the College for Congregational Development.

When space is available, the Nicholas Center is also available to host leadership trainings for dioceses, congregations and faith-based organizations. Preference is given to Episcopal Church-related groups. We regret that the Nicholas Center is not available for personal retreats.

How do I find the Nicholas Center?

The Nicholas Center is located at 65 E. Huron St. in downtown Chicago, on the fifth floor of St. James Commons, home of the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago. Find driving, parking and public transportation information on our Facility page.

Can my spouse or partner come with me?

We regret that the Nicholas Center can accommodate only guests who are attending a Nicholas Center training or meeting.

Can I share a room with my spouse, partner or child?

The Nicholas Center is home to 14 guest rooms with single beds and private baths, but does not have rooms to accommodate couples or families together.

Can I come early or stay late?

Unfortunately, the Nicholas Center cannot accommodate those who may arrive a day early or need to depart a day later than a retreat.

Located just around the corner from St. James, we have worked with the Warwick Allerton Hotel to create discounted rates. The Warwick Allerton Hotel is located at 701 N. Michigan Ave in Chicago, IL 60611, right at the corner of Michigan and Huron St. Reservations with the St. James Cathedral preferred rate may be made directly with the Warwick Allerton by calling 312.440.1500, through their central reservations office at 877.701.8111, or online through the Warwick Allerton website with the code 'STJC.' All reservations must be guaranteed by the traveler with a major credit card.
